Jackson Livingood to Travel Abroad
  Jackson Livingood, the son of Chris and Erin Livingood and a student at Paris Middle School has been accepted as a Student Ambassador!  He has earned the adventure of a lifetime—eight cities in 19 days with the People to People Ambassador program.  This educational exploration program founded by President Dwight D. Eisenhower will offer Jackson the opportunity to study in England, France, and Italy in the summer of 2015.  Click here to read the complete press release.
 


Chamber of Commerce Recognizes Teacher of Year
  Congratulations to Ms. Jennifer Gibson who was named Paris Independent Schools Teacher of the Year at the annual Paris Chamber of Commerce Awards Banquet.  Ms. Gibson teaches 7th and 8th grade Language Arts at Paris Middle School.

Band of Pride Advances in State Competition!
 
Congratulations to the Paris Marching Band of Pride which placed fourth in KMEA State Quarter-final Competition on Saturday, October 25.  The band will march at semi-final competition on Saturday, November 1.  Click here to watch their award winning performance.  Click here to view the photo gallery of the band's half-time performance during Friday night's football game versus Bracken County. 

Paris Schools Raise Money for Lupus
 
In the month of September, Paris Independent Schools hosted a Lupus Awareness Campaign for the purpose of raising awareness of this disease and supporting those affected by raising funds to help find a cure. Students and staff participated in the "Butterfly Campaign" and all funds raised supported the Lupus Foundation of America, Mid-South Chapter.  For more information on how you can support the Lupus Foundation, please log onto http://www.lupusmidsouth.org 

Retired Professor Speaks to High School about Integration

Dr. Paul Redditt, retired Georgetown College professor, came to speak to Mrs. Mason' s English II classes about his experience at Little Rock Central High during the integration in 1957. Students in Mrs. Mason's English II classes have been reading the novel, Warriors Don't Cry by Melba Pattillo Beals, one of the Little Rock nine who were the first African American students to integrate the high school. Dr. Redditt shared his perspective as a student who witnessed the events during that time. Click here to view the complete photo gallery.




Tristan Wilson Named Commended Student by NMSC
Mrs. Dailey, PHS Principal, announced today that Tristan Wilson has been named a Commended Student in the 2015 National Merit Scholarship Program. A Letter of Commendation from the school and National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC), which conducts the program, will be presented by the principal to this scholastically talented senior. High Expectations for Students

Paris Independent Schools has a long history of providing an excellent education for the children of Paris. Our goal is for all students to graduate with a strong foundation in education as well as life-long appreciation of learning. All Paris schools meet the accreditation requirements of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS). Paris High School has been accredited since 1915. All teachers have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited program as required by state law. The majority of our staff have master degrees or above.
