Welcome to Paris Independent Schools

Welcome to our website!
One of our top priorities is active communication with parents and our community.  This website was designed to be a user-friendly communication tool.  We hope you will find the design aesthetically pleasing and the content current and informative. Please access the site often for current news, important announcements, student photos, school forms and class information.  We welcome your feedback!

-The main floor of the high school is closed for the remainder of the school year due to construction. All students and visitors need to enter through the middle school.

Special Event to Review the School Year
As we conclude this school year, we want to invite you, and anyone you want to invite, to the 2016-17 Superintendent Capstone Project. This serves as a year in review, and is also part of Mr. Bicknell's annual evaluation and new superintendent on-boarding program.
The event will begin at 5:00pm on Tuesday, May 2nd in the Fine Arts Center Auditorium. Hope to see you there!!

Administrative Assistant Day

 District assistants were recognized Wednesday by Superintendent Ken Bicknell.

Ribbon Cutting Ceremony
The All Sports Training Facility officially opened today with a ribbon cutting ceremony that brought over a hundred community members, alumni, current and former teachers, coaches, and students out to celebrate! What a great time to be a Greyhound! (Watch for more photos in the Citizen and Herald Leader, and Lexington News Outlets who were all in attendance).

Beta Inductees
Congratulations to our newest Beta Club members. These sophomores were inducted at a ceremony in front of their parents, along with PHS students and teachers.

Ladyhounds Win Region Tournament
Our Ladyhound Softball Team won the Class A Region Tournament this past weekend! They defeated Nicholas County in the semis and Bishop Brossart in the finals 4-2! They will play in the State Tournament on Saturday in Owensboro.

3rd Graders Present to UK
Several PES 3rd graders and their teachers presented their idea for an arcade to the UK Next Generation Leadership Academy. If you haven't donated, please consider doing so. These students have worked hard to bring entertainment to Paris.

JKG Places 4th

Student Work Showcase
All schools held their Spring PBL work showcase night. Every student completed a project either individually or as a group or class and invited families and community members to come view their work.

Facility Tour
On Tuesday, April 25, at 1:00 p.m., the ribbon cutting ceremony for the All Sports Training Facility will take place at Blanton Collier Stadium (PHS Football Field). We invite you to join us and check out the latest addition that is sure to make our student athletes even more competitive!
In order to meet the requests to see the facility and amenities, the building will be open for tours until 6:00pm

Science Day
 The Center of Science Industry (COSI) came to PES for their science day and taught them about weather and had students participate in hands on science learning stations.

Driving Awareness

3rd Graders Visit City Hall
Our 3rd graders stated their case for an arcade in front of the city mayor and commissioners. You can help make this possible by clicking here and making a donation! What an exciting time for our community!

Graduation Date Set
   The Paris High School graduation has been scheduled for Saturday, May 20th, at 7pm. The 8th grade graduation will take place Thursday, May 18th, at 6:00.

Attendance Incentive
The Masonic Lodge has generously donated and presented our Elementary with two bikes that will be used as perfect attendance incentives for the remainder of the school year. Special thanks to Earl Sosby, Wilson Wilder, Dennie Ritchie, Jim West, Bruce Klobeke, George Lucey, and Denzel Vanderpool.

100 Man Lunch
  Elementary Principal Rachelle Schjoll poses with student Xavier Brown and his dad Justin Brown, who was the 100th man at the annual 100 man lunch! Over 130 male role models came to share a meal with a student, and afterwards they were able to shop the book fair together!

University of Kentucky's Director of School Innovation Dr. Justin Bathom and Paris Superintendent Ken Bicknell welcomed the dozens who came out to learn about the new Paris Pride 2.0 program beginning soon! Click Here to read the article.

Community Meeting

Calling all parents, and community members! Mark your calendars for Wednesday evening at 6PM to come hear about the new Paris Pride 2.0 program! During this meeting you will hear from Superintendent Ken Bicknell, principal Jami Dailey, UK Director of School Innovation Dr. Justin Bathom, along with teachers and students from our district. All will speak about the direction of education for Paris students and be available to answer any questions you may have.

Cardboard Arcade
The 3rd graders designed an arcade made from cardboard and invited the public to come out and play. Many students, parents, and community members came to the game night! It was a great event put on by our students-we were even featured on the news!

Field Trips
Three groups of high school students were out of the building for different trips this week. The senior class of girls attended a Young Women LEAD Conference at Eastern KY University, while the Juniors and Sophomores attended a College Fair at Transylvania University.

Read Across America Week
The Elementary welcomed the Superintendent as one of its Guest Speakers for Read Across America Week. Mr. Bicknell came and read to a Kindergarten Class. The middle and high school participated by turning the library into a Reading Only Zone where students could come and read distraction free.

Exciting New Program Coming to Paris

Paris has been invited to join the Summit Learning Community as a partner school for the 2017-2018 School Year! We are one of a select few school districts across the nation that received this opportunity! You can read the entire article by clicking here.

40th District Champs
For the 3rd straight year, the Paris Greyhounds are District Champs! They defeated Bourbon and Clark County to claim the crown, and will begin their quest for a Regional Title on Thursday night at Mason County!

Black History Museum
This past weekend, middle school students, staff, parents, and community members put together a museum featuring live exhibits, artwork, authentic foods, poetry readings, and dances. There are more pictures available on Facebook, and also watch for a full page spread in Wednesday's Bourbon County Citizen.

Greyhound Proclamation
The Paris Mayor and City Commissioner signed and presented the state champion basketball team with a proclamation honoring their achievement.

Helping Hounds
The Elementary has a great mentoring program in place. Once a week adult volunteers will come work individually with a student or help a teacher in their classroom. Senior students have also come to work with kindergartners.

Championship Celebration

Paris was the place to be on Monday following the state tournament as students and community members came together to celebrate our boys' basketball team's State Championship! The team was introduced and received medals, and students were allowed to meet and congratulate the players.

Academic Team Success
Congratulations to our three Academic Teams in Governor's Cup Competition.  The high school team placed 2nd overall, while the middle school had three of its members place highly on written exams. The Elementary Team won Quick Recall, placed 2nd in Future Problem Solving, and finished with several top 4 finishes in the written portion! All three teams have advanced to Regional Competition!
